Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie continues – Trogen checking the weather

The Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, NLS, continues with the second race of the season. Sami-Matti Trogen, 18, who drives for the Walkenhorst Motorsport team with a BMW M6, is thirsting for a better result than two weeks ago when the team was 13th. Trogen's team mates sharing the car are Germans Jörg Müller and Mario Von Bohlen. The last race of the series is run in October.

The previous race of the series was held on April 17th. It was a season opener as the first had to be canceled due to weather conditions. Trogen was struggling with grip in the race because the tires didn’t warm up and he needed to balance between risk-taking and safe driving. However, the competition gave some important lessons.

"The previous race brought me a lot of experience, even though I couldn't drive at the maximum speed. Getting to the finish line was the most important thing, I have already been able to show my racing pace. Each race brings me more experience. At some point, there will for sure be a good race with good results", Trogen says.

Between races, Trogen has been taking it easy but also training as well as driving on a simulator.

"I drove the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring for the BMW Team GP, with the other three drivers: Alex Arana, Agustin Canapino, and Dominic Staib. We fought for victory until the internet connection crashed. We lost three minutes and dropped to ninth, but eventually were able to finish third. I drove the most in our team, but I never get tired of this track!"

Trogen is now looking closely at the weather forecast and thinking about the coming weekend.

"I will drive fast if I can and the weather allows. If not, I will slow down. Getting to the finish line is the most important goal also in this race. The weather forecast is not looking too good, with a fairly cool weekend ahead. But for sure I'll get more good experience again", Trogen concludes.
